C++ Software Developer Print E-mail

AirGator is looking for experienced software developers to lead and implement on-site development of  our technology solutions for GPS, Moving Maps, Real Time Data and Mobile Computing applications in the aviation and marine industries.

The tasks ahead of you include C++ and C# software development and product management. You will work with our domain experts to determine system needs and translate them into technology solutions using AirGator's architecture. You will participate both in implementing enhancements to our existing product line, and the development of two new products in the coming year.

Your deployment and our success will require excellent knowledge of C++ in Windows, Windows Mobile and possibly Linux environments and your ability to translate requirements into effective, customer focused solutions. As part of an aggressive and dynamic development program, you will be required to learn these areas and our technology, vision, and contribute directly to customer satisfaction. An understanding and in-depth knowledge of graphics software and toolkits such as OpenGL and DirectX is a major plus.

You will help AirGator develop its core technology and future directions based on actual customer needs.

You will be challenged, placed in a position of authority and responsibility, and asked to be a major contributor to the success of AirGator. In the future, you could manage a small team of developers and product specialists. While you will work from our Mt. Kisco, NY facility, in the future you might be able to work remotely some of the time.

You will work with top developers, OEM partners, and well-known pilots and boaters in the industry and enjoy competitive pay, performance-based bonuses, and potential for profit-sharing and company ownership.

Results are what matter at AirGator, and there is no limit to your growth. We are looking for both full and part time staff to fill these positions, so if this job fits your interests and capabilities, contact us immediately.

Requirements

Candidates need the skills to identify complex, real-time, intricate user problems and requirements and have experience architecting and developing effective software solutions. AirGator requires you understand the entire software/system life cycle. Specific aviation and marine experience is not required, but it is expected that these concepts are readily learned and applied early in your employment. And if you happen to love flying or boating, so much the better.

Required:

  • 3 - 5 years providing software design and development services with expertise designing solutions and building technology to implement those solutions.
  • Exceptional C++ skill set with 3 years appropriate experience.
  • BS in Computer Science or related field. Masters preferred.
  • 3 years of Win32, Windows Mobile and/or Linux development.
  • Strong knowledge of OO design and development experience.
  • Excellent software engineering principles including development and release lifecycles.
  • Experience with real-time, multi-threaded systems.
  • Strong client-interaction skills.
  • Ability to learn new industries quickly.
  • Good at working alone and in teams on disparate tasks.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills.
  • Good communications verbal and written skills are a must.
  • Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work directly with the end-users
  • Graphics and user interface experience.

• Strong knowledge of OO design and development experience
• 5+ years C++/Java backend development
• Application developer level relational database skills are required.
• Strong inter-personal skills and the ability to work directly with the end-users.

Recommended:

  • Interest in or experience and enthusiasm for flying or boating
  • Mapping, graphics rendering and GPS applications
  • C#, OpenGL, Web Services, Linux and Real Time systems
  • Experience working in small, flexible teams and applying new technologies

Pilot Reports

Got it, subscribed to XM and played with it on the ground. I had to test fly a Bonanza after an autopilot repair and there was a line of CB’s approaching. I flew straight for them. The stormscope 1000 in this plane was "spoking" so it wouldn’t indicate with any precision the actual location of the line. Awesome! I could actually find "holes" through the line without having to patrol for them. The rain boundaries depicted on the map coincided so close to the actual rain that it amazed me. I expected the delay from NEXRAD to be appreciable, but in reality you hardly notice it. I can already tell that this will dramatically increase the utility of my plane and all the other ones I fly. We leave tomorrow for a long weekend in Houston. I feel so much more relaxed knowing that I’ll have the big picture when I have to face the inevitable summer time line.
